SEND Information
At Clifton-upon-Teme Primary School we are proud of our adaptive, inclusive and aspirational curriculum for all children. There may be specific Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) that impact on their ability to access learning and we work to meet the needs of all our learners. Most SEND needs can be considered as either 'Communication and Interaction,' 'Cognition and Learning,' 'Social, Emotional and Mental Health' or 'Sensory and/or Physical Needs' and our staff are committed and trained to support children with needs across all four categories.
Children with Special Educational Needs (SEND) at Clifton are supported within class by both teachers and teaching assistants. They access high-quality, whole-class provision as well as any specific interventions, resources and other forms of support they require. We place self-esteem and emotional literacy at the heart of a trauma-informed curriculum to enable our children to progress personally, socially and academically. In meeting children's needs, we recognise the importance of working closely with parents/carers understanding the vital role that families play in their children's lives and education. Parents/carers can communicate regularly with class teachers and the SENCO and we keep families informed and involved as a partners in the learning process. We offer an 'open door' approach, as well as signposting other professional resources and support wherever we can.

Mrs Julie Wills is our Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCO) and has oversight of the provision for all children on the SEND Register.

Useful Documents
SEND Code of Practice - this is the national, statutory document that outlines what it means to have SEND and how all schools should support pupils on the SEND register.
Worcestershire County Council's SEND Local Offer - The Local Offer provides more specific information about provision families can expect to be available in Worcestershire across education, health and social care for children and young people who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) or are disabled, including those who do and do not have Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans.
SEND Policy - All schools must have an SEND Policy. It outlines the formal procedures and legal requirements in place for SEND provision at Clifton and sets out the roles and responsibilities of staff in supporting children with SEND in school.
SEND Information Report - All schools must produce a SEND Information Report. It has been written for you as parents/carers to outline our mission, values, vision and aims for children with SEND. It includes information about the laws and rules that affect our day to day processes at Clifton and explains what you can expect as a parent/carer of a child/ren with SEND.
Clifton's SEND Offer - This document outlines what our school offers for pupils with SEND as part of our provision. It outlines our 'Ordinarily Available' provision for all children, as well as the higher levels of support that some children require.
Accessibility Plan - All schools must produce an Accessibility Plan. It outlines the school aims to continually improve curriculum accessibility for pupils with SEND. It outlines our planned actions to improve the extent to which SEND pupils can participate in the curriculum, access the physical environment and engage with accessible forms of information and learning materials.
Equality Objectives - All schools must produce an Equality Policy. This document outlines how Clifton-upon-Teme Primary School promotes equality and meets its responsibilities relating to the Equality Act 2010.
Parent and Carer Information Leaflet - This more informal leaflet has been designed to provide you with clear summaries of key terminology and the main features of SEND provision at Clifton.

SEND Support Groups for Parents and Carers
This online directory provides information on support groups available for parents and carers in Worcestershire
SENDIASS are the SEND Information, Advice and Support Service covering Herefordshire and Worcestershire. They have a dedicated team of advisors offering legally-based and easily accessible information and advice about special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). SENDIASS support parents, carers, children and young people with SEND and their service is impartial and confidential.
Families in Partnership (Worcestershire)
Families in Partnership Worcestershire is the Parent Carer Forum for Worcestershire. They are an independent group of Parent Carers of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) who work alongside social care, health and education to make sure the services and support being provided meets the needs of you children and young people living in Worcestershire.
Parent Carer Voice (Herefordshire)
Whilst our school is in Worcestershire and therefore is covered by the Worcestershire Local Offer we know that some families live in Herefordshire. Parent Carer Voice is led by a Steering group of parents in Herefordshire who are working alongside the Local Authority and Health partnerships (ICS) to ensure that the needs of Children & Young People up to the age of 25 years with Additional & Special Educational Needs are being met.
The Starting Well Partnership provides information on support groups in the local area for the families of children with SEND.
Raring 2 go! is an information service that provides information on a wide range of clubs and activities available in the local area. Many of these clubs are suitable for or even targeted at children with SEND. The Parents' Voice website is run by an independent group of Worcestershire parents for all parents and family carers. They aim to keep parents informed and up to date about services, groups and events, and to be their voice in Worcestershire by passing on their feedback where appropriate.
This website allows you to search your post code and find out about local services available near to you. These include adult and child support and include support with additional needs, bereavement, mental health and addiction.
Speech, Language and Communication Pathway
The Hereford and Worcester Health and Care Speech, Language and Communication Needs Pathway Information for Parents page provides information and resources to support parents who are concerned about their child's communication, or are supporting a child with SLCN needs.
Autism West Midlands are the leading charity in the West Midlands for people on the autism spectrum. They use their expertise to enrich the lives of autistic people and those who love and care for them. Staff and volunteers work across all age groups and abilities, providing direct support.
Crossroads Together provide practical support for unpaid carers who look after someone with a disability, illness, mental health problem or an addiction.
Look is a small local charity which connects and supports visually impaired children, young people and their families.
Marches Family Network offer support, respite and social opportunities for disabled children and advice, assistance and friendship for their families.
Disability Grants can help you find local and national funding, which can be used to purchase disability equipment, home adaptations or holidays.
National Deaf Children's Society
The National Deaf Children's Society offer a range of services, information and support for deaf children, young people and their families.
SOS! SEN offer a free, friendly, independent and confidential telephone helpline for parents looking for information and advice on special educational needs and disability.
Special Needs Jungle provide parent-led information, resources and informed opinion about children and young people with special educational needs.
