Early Years

At Clifton Upon-Teme Primary School, we want every child to have the best possible start to their school journey. Our EYFS is a safe, happy and nurturing place where children feel loved, valued and ready to learn. We want every child to shine, have a go, get messy, make mistakes and have fun!

We believe that children learn best when they are playing, exploring and talking. Our language-rich, hands-on curriculum is full of exciting experiences that encourage children to ask questions, follow their interests, discover new things and make sense of the world around them. Our small class sizes mean that we know our children really well, allowing us to build on what makes each child special and use their interests to bring learning to life.

Our school values are at the heart of our Early Years. Children develop confidence as they try new things and share their ideas; respect as they learn to care for themselves, each other and their environment; and responsibility as they make choices and become increasingly independent. Through play, children learn to persevere, keep trying and celebrate those brilliant “I did it!” moments. They develop collaboration as they build, create, imagine, solve problems and learn together.

Most importantly, we want our children to be ambitious, to be curious, adventurous and excited about what they can achieve. We celebrate every little step, big achievement and wonderful moment of discovery, helping children to develop the skills, confidence and love of learning that will help them thrive at Clifton and beyond.
