Our Science curriculum aims to inspire all pupils, from our youngest learners in the Early Years to those preparing for secondary school in Key Stage 2, to become curious, knowledgeable learners with a strong understanding of the world around them. Through our vision of Inspiring Minds, Shaping Futures, we encourage children to develop a sense of wonder about the natural and physical world, fostering curiosity and a desire to discover how things work.

Our intention is for pupils to build secure scientific knowledge alongside the skills needed to work and think scientifically. Through practical and engaging experiences, children learn to observe closely, ask meaningful questions, carry out investigations and draw conclusions based on evidence. In doing so, they develop critical thinking, resilience and confidence in their ability to solve problems.

Through the study of biology, chemistry and physics, pupils gain an understanding of key scientific concepts and recognise the relevance of science in everyday life. They learn about significant discoveries and the work of scientists from a range of backgrounds, helping them to understand how science has improved our understanding of the world and continues to shape the future.

We recognise that inspiring future scientists begins with high-quality teaching and meaningful opportunities for enquiry. Our curriculum enables pupils to build knowledge progressively, apply their understanding through investigation and develop confidence in using scientific language and evidence. Through carefully planned learning experiences, every pupil is encouraged to achieve their best, develop independence in their thinking and cultivate a lasting fascination with science and the natural world.
