Our Geography curriculum inspires a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that we hope will stay with our children for life. As a small rural school, we make the most of our wonderful local environment, giving children opportunities to explore, investigate and understand the world around them, while developing a growing knowledge of places and people across the UK and the wider world.

We want our children to become confident and ambitious geographers, asking questions, making discoveries and developing the knowledge and skills to understand how our world works. Through practical experiences, fieldwork, maps, enquiry and exploration, pupils learn about diverse places, cultures, people and environments, as well as the physical and human processes that shape our planet.

Our children develop respect for different cultures, communities and ways of life, learning to appreciate both the similarities and differences that make our world diverse. They learn to take responsibility for their local environment and develop an understanding of how our choices can impact the world we share.

Geography provides opportunities for children to work together and develop collaboration through fieldwork, investigations, discussions and problem-solving. They are encouraged to show perseverance when tackling geographical challenges, collecting information and making sense of what they discover.

We want every child to be ambitious in their thinking, developing a deep understanding of how places, people and environments are interconnected and how they change over time. Ultimately, we aim to equip our pupils with the knowledge, skills and curiosity to make sense of the world around them and become confident, responsible and respectful citizens who are ready to play their part in shaping its future.
