Our Art curriculum aims to inspire all pupils, from our youngest learners in the Early Years to those preparing for secondary school in Key Stage 2, to become creative, confident artists with a broad understanding of art and design. Through our vision of Inspiring Minds, Shaping Futures, we want children to develop imagination, curiosity and the confidence to express their ideas through a range of artistic experiences.

Our intention is for pupils to engage with the creative process by exploring materials, techniques and artistic concepts while developing their own unique artistic voice. Through rich and meaningful learning opportunities, children learn to observe, experiment, reflect and refine their ideas, building resilience and pride in their achievements.

Through the study of diverse artists, craftspeople and designers, pupils develop an appreciation of different cultures, perspectives and forms of artistic expression. They learn how art can reflect and shape society, helping them understand the world around them and their place within it.

We recognise the importance of expert teaching and strong subject knowledge in helping pupils build both practical skills and a deeper understanding of art and design. Through engaging and ambitious learning experiences, children are encouraged to think creatively, grow in confidence and appreciate the value of the arts.
