Our Design & Technology curriculum aims to inspire all pupils, from our youngest learners in the Early Years to those preparing for secondary school in Key Stage 2, to become creative, confident and innovative problem-solvers. Through our vision of Inspiring Minds, Shaping Futures, we encourage children to use their imagination, think critically and develop practical solutions to real-world challenges.

Our intention is for pupils to develop the knowledge, skills and creativity needed to design, make and evaluate products with purpose. Through engaging and hands-on learning experiences, children learn to consider the needs of others, generate ideas, take risks and refine their work. In doing so, they develop resilience, independence and confidence in their ability to solve problems.

Through a range of projects involving structures, mechanisms, textiles, electrical systems and food, pupils gain an understanding of how design and technology impacts everyday life. They explore the work of designers, engineers, inventors and innovators, helping them recognise how creative thinking can improve lives and shape the world around us.

Through carefully planned opportunities to design, make and evaluate, pupils develop the knowledge, skills and creativity needed to become successful problem-solvers. Our curriculum encourages children to think innovatively, take pride in their work and learn from the process of refining and improving their ideas. By working both independently and collaboratively, pupils gain the confidence to create purposeful solutions and understand how design can shape and improve everyday life.
